The Project

Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Seattle Pride, Visit Seattle invited 125 couples to renew their wedding vows aboard a special Argosy voyage, celebrating inclusivity with a boat cruise featuring local LGBTQIA+-owned businesses' giveaway bags, food, drinks, music, and vibrant views of the city skyline lit up in rainbow colors.

Goal

The client wanted to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Seattle Pride by hosting a vow renewal ceremony and celebration aboard a cruise around Elliot Bay.

Challenge

Creating an event experience that honors the history of Pride in the city of Seattle, while at the same time celebrating the renewal of vows of the attendees. Designing and producing an event on a boat presented unique challenges including- limited space, accessibility, and timing to ensure boat positioning for key photo moments.

Results

We developed a creative direction that divided the floors of the boat into unique color blocks - representing the colors from the Inclusive Pride Flag across the 3 decks of the ship. Due to the limited space in the boat, keeping the amount of production equipment low was essential. To maximize impact and minimize footprint of lighting gear, we designed semi-transparent window clings within the event colors to utilize the outside daylight to assist in color washing each boat interior deck.

The client was thrilled with the outcome of the event both in experience and exposure.

The project won an Addy, and was a finalist for a Shorty Award and PR Week 2024 Award, garnered 66 pieces of global media coverage, and 251 million earned media impressions.
